Like many Christmas songs, we do not know who composed Bring a Torch, Jeanette, Isabella. However, we do know that it is a French Christmas carol from the Provence region, and that it was composed in the 17th century, or earlier. The lyrics of the song tell the story of Jeanette and Isabella, who find Jesus and Mary in the stable. They remind onlookers to speak softly and walk quietly so they do not wake up the baby.
